Checked against Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer terms, October 2026.
Search for KrisFlyer miles value and you’ll mostly find answers in Singapore cents. “About 1.5 cents a mile,” goes the usual line. That’s handy if you live in Singapore. If you’re flying out of Delhi or Mumbai, you’re left doing currency maths.
So we worked it out in rupees. We priced real Singapore Airlines award seats from India against the cash fares for the same flights, on the same dates.
Here’s the short version. KrisFlyer miles don’t have one fixed value. Use them for an economy seat and each mile is worth around ₹1.2. Put them towards Singapore Airlines business class and the same mile is worth about ₹2. Spend them on shopping and it drops to ₹0.7. Read on to see how it works, and how to stay at the top end.
Quick Answer
How much is 1 KrisFlyer mile worth in rupees?
1 KrisFlyer mile is worth about ₹1.2 on an economy flight from India and around ₹2 in Singapore Airlines business class. Spend it on KrisShop, Kris+ or to part-pay a fare, though, and you’ll get about ₹0.7. A good target is anything above ₹1.5 a mile.
Key takeaways
1 KrisFlyer mile is worth about ₹1.2 in economy and ₹2 in business class on flights from India.
Delhi to Singapore in business costs 45,000 miles one way, against a cash fare of about ₹95,000.
Shopping and part-paying a fare give you about ₹0.7 a mile, because 100 miles count as just SGD 1.
KrisFlyer miles expire 36 months after you earn them, no matter how active you are.
HDFC Infinia, Diners Club Black and HSBC TravelOne transfer at 1:1. Amex transfers at 2:1, so you get half as many miles.

What is KrisFlyer?
KrisFlyer is the loyalty programme of Singapore Airlines and Scoot. Singapore Airlines is part of Star Alliance, so your miles also work on airlines like Air India, Lufthansa and Thai. Joining is free.
Many Indians earn KrisFlyer miles by moving credit card points across, not by flying. Then they spend them on Singapore Airlines flights, which fly to Singapore from eight Indian cities.
Award seats come in two types. Saver awards cost fewer miles, but there are only a few seats on each flight. Advantage awards cost a lot more (about 40,500 miles in economy from India, against 19,000 for Saver), but you’re more likely to find one.
The rule that catches people out is expiry. KrisFlyer miles expire 36 months after the month you earn them, and earning or spending more doesn’t push that date back. That’s different from Avios, which stay alive as long as you use your account. If you’re new to airline points, our guide on what air miles are is a good place to start.
KrisFlyer miles value table: 1,000 to 1,00,000 miles in rupees
Here’s what common balances are worth, depending on how you spend them.
| KrisFlyer miles | Low use (₹0.7) | Typical, economy (₹1.2) | Good, business (₹2) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | ₹700 | ₹1,200 | ₹2,000 |
| 4,000 | ₹2,800 | ₹4,800 | ₹8,000 |
| 10,000 | ₹7,000 | ₹12,000 | ₹20,000 |
| 20,000 | ₹14,000 | ₹24,000 | ₹40,000 |
| 50,000 | ₹35,000 | ₹60,000 | ₹1,00,000 |
| 1,00,000 | ₹70,000 | ₹1,20,000 | ₹2,00,000 |
How we got these numbers: we compared Singapore Airlines’ Saver award prices with cash fares on Delhi to Singapore in November 2026, after allowing for the taxes you pay on an award ticket. “Low use” covers KrisShop, Kris+ and part-paying a fare, where 100 miles count as SGD 1 (about ₹73).
So what do 10,000 KrisFlyer miles get you? On their own, about half of a one-way economy seat from India to Singapore. With 20,000 miles, you’ve got the whole seat, worth well over ₹20,000.
KrisFlyer miles calculator: Work out your own value
You don’t need a fancy tool for this. One simple sum tells you what your miles are worth on any flight:
Value per mile = (cash fare minus the taxes you pay on the award) ÷ miles needed
Singapore Airlines’ own miles calculator tells you how many miles a route costs. You can also check the KrisFlyer award chart, which lists Saver and Advantage prices by region. Google Flights gives you the cash fare. Put the two together and you’ve got your number.
Worked example: Delhi to Singapore, in November
Here’s what we found for a Singapore Airlines flight from Delhi to Singapore on 18 November 2026:
| Economy | Business | |
|---|---|---|
| Cash fare (one way) | about ₹37,200 | about ₹95,000 |
| Miles needed (Saver) | 19,000 | 45,000 |
| Taxes and fees on the award | from about ₹3,500 | from about ₹3,500, higher in business |
| Value per mile | about ₹1.8 | about ₹2 |
Cash fares are half of Singapore Airlines’ return fares (₹74,433 in economy and ₹1,89,925 in business), since one-way tickets from India are priced much higher. Taxes on award tickets vary, and Singapore Airlines shows the exact amount when you search. Even at ₹10,000 in taxes, each mile in business is still worth close to ₹1.9.
Why is our typical economy figure lower than ₹1.8? Because you don’t have to fly Singapore Airlines in economy. A nonstop on Air India on the same day cost about ₹21,300. Against that fare, your miles work out closer to ₹0.9 each. In business, the gap between Singapore Airlines and everyone else matters less, and the value holds up.

Best and worst ways to redeem KrisFlyer miles
Best ways to redeem
- Singapore Airlines business class from India. It costs 45,000 miles one way from any of the eight Indian cities it flies from, and the cash fare is often close to a lakh. This is the most reliable value you’ll find.
- Longer trips through Singapore. Award seats onward to Australia, Japan or Europe often give even more value per mile than the hop to Singapore.
- Star Alliance partner flights. You can book Air India, Lufthansa, Thai and others with KrisFlyer miles, which helps when Singapore Airlines has no Saver seats.
- Cabin upgrades. You can use miles to move up from a paid fare to the next cabin on eligible Singapore Airlines tickets.
KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes
Every month, Singapore Airlines releases Spontaneous Escapes. These are Saver awards at 30% off on selected routes, for travel in the following month. In November 2026, Ahmedabad to Singapore in business is on the list at 31,500 miles instead of 45,000. Going by our Delhi business fare, that works out to almost ₹3 a mile.
The catch? The routes change every month, the seats go fast, and you need to be able to travel at short notice. It’s a great bonus when it lines up, not something to plan a holiday around.
Worst ways to redeem
- KrisShop and Kris+. Every 100 miles count as just SGD 1, or about ₹0.7 a mile.
- Mix miles and cash. You can part-pay a Singapore Airlines or Scoot fare with as few as 1,000 miles, but it uses the same SGD 1 per 100 miles rate.
- Experiences on Pelago. Easy to use, but you’ll usually get ₹0.7 a mile or less.
KrisFlyer partner airlines you can book from India
Singapore Airlines partners with every Star Alliance airline, plus a few others. These are the KrisFlyer partner airlines that fly from India and are worth knowing.
| Airline | Alliance | Useful from India? |
|---|---|---|
| Singapore Airlines | Star Alliance | Yes, flies from eight Indian cities |
| Scoot | Singapore Airlines group | Yes, low-cost flights to Singapore |
| Air India | Star Alliance | Yes, domestic and international |
| Lufthansa | Star Alliance | Yes, to Europe via Frankfurt and Munich |
| Swiss | Star Alliance | Yes, to Europe via Zurich |
| Turkish Airlines | Star Alliance | Yes, to Europe and the US via Istanbul |
| Thai Airways | Star Alliance | Yes, to Southeast Asia via Bangkok |
| ANA | Star Alliance | Yes, Delhi and Mumbai to Tokyo |
| United, Air Canada | Star Alliance | Yes, nonstop to North America |
Partner awards on Star Alliance airlines can be booked on the Singapore Airlines website. They often cost more miles than Singapore Airlines’ own Saver seats, so compare before you book.
Which Indian credit cards transfer to KrisFlyer?
Plenty of Indian cards transfer to KrisFlyer, but the ratio changes how many miles you end up with. Some cards give you four times as many miles per point as others.
| Card | Ratio (points : miles) | ₹ per card point (economy / business) |
|---|---|---|
| HDFC Infinia, Diners Club Black | 1:1 | ₹1.2 / ₹2 |
| HDFC Regalia Gold | 2:1 | ₹0.6 / ₹1 |
| Amex Membership Rewards | 2:1 | ₹0.6 / ₹1 |
| HSBC TravelOne, HSBC Premier | 1:1 | ₹1.2 / ₹2 |
| Axis Olympus | 1:4 | ₹4.8 / ₹8 |
| Axis Atlas | 1:2 | ₹2.4 / ₹4 |
| Axis Horizon | 1:1 | ₹1.2 / ₹2 |
| Axis Magnus Burgundy, Burgundy Private | 5:4 | ₹0.96 / ₹1.6 |
| Axis Magnus, Reserve | 5:2 | ₹0.48 / ₹0.8 |
A few things to check before you move points:
- Transfer time. Amex transfers land within hours, and HDFC and HSBC usually within three days. Axis can take up to 10 days to reach KrisFlyer.
- Caps. Infinia lets you transfer up to 1,50,000 points a month. On Axis, KrisFlyer sits in Group A, which has a yearly cap. On Atlas, that’s just 30,000 EDGE Miles. You’ll find the full list in our Axis Bank transfer partners update.
- Transfers are final. Find your seat first, then transfer.
If you hold an HDFC Infinia, KrisFlyer is one of its strongest 1:1 partners. Amex Platinum cardholders get fewer miles at 2:1, so KrisFlyer works best for them when the seat is in business. For how card transfers work in general, see our guide to credit card points transfer.
KrisFlyer and hotels: Moving points both ways
KrisFlyer works with hotel programmes in both directions. One way is useful. The other usually isn’t.
Marriott to KrisFlyer
Marriott Bonvoy converts to KrisFlyer at 3:1, and you get 5,000 bonus miles for every 60,000 points you move. So 60,000 Marriott points become 25,000 KrisFlyer miles. It’s a handy way to top up when you’re a few thousand miles short. Our guide to what Marriott points are worth has the full maths.
KrisFlyer to Marriott
Since April 2026, 4 KrisFlyer miles become 3 Marriott points. The minimum is 3,000 miles, and you can convert up to 2,50,000 miles a year. With a Marriott point typically worth about ₹0.7, that’s roughly ₹0.5 for each mile you give up. Flights almost always beat that, so keep this for when your miles are about to expire.
Wyndham to KrisFlyer
Wyndham Rewards converts at 5:1, with a minimum of 6,000 points. That gets you 1,200 KrisFlyer miles. It’s small, but it can save a balance you’d otherwise not use.
Can you buy KrisFlyer miles?
Not the way you can buy Avios or Marriott points. Singapore Airlines doesn’t run an open “buy miles” store. It only lets you buy the shortfall for a specific award, and only once you already have at least half the miles you need. At around 4 US cents a mile, that’s over ₹3 for each one.
So when does buying KrisFlyer miles make sense? Only when you’re a few thousand short of a business class seat you’ve already found. For anything else, earning through your card is far cheaper.
You’ll also see websites offering to sell KrisFlyer miles at a discount. Skip them. KrisFlyer’s terms don’t allow miles to be sold, and Singapore Airlines can cancel tickets booked with them.
Where your value quietly leaks
- Spending miles on KrisShop, Kris+ or part-paying a fare. You get about ₹0.7 a mile, a lot less than a flight gives you.
- Letting miles expire. The 36-month clock doesn’t stop. You can pay a small fee to extend expiring miles by six months, but it’s easier to plan a booking.
- Booking Advantage when Saver seats exist. Advantage can cost twice as many miles for the same seat.
- Transferring before you’ve found a seat. Card transfers can’t be undone, and Saver seats aren’t always there.
- Using a weak ratio card. At 5:2 on Axis Magnus, your points buy far fewer miles than on Atlas or Infinia.
Let PointsFly do the tracking
